Most Well-Read Cities of the US




Alexandria City, a small urban area in Virginia, was listed by Amazon.com as the most well-read city in the United States (US), according to reports. Amazon reportedly listed down 20 of the most well-read cities in the US for 2012 based on sales data on books, magazine and newspaper and eBooks since June 2011. The Amazon list of the 20 most read cities include areas with populations of more than 100,000 residents.


According to Chris Schluep, senior editor of books at Amazon.com, “It’s great to see that we are truly a nation of readers, with representation on this list from every region of the country.” Following is the complete 2012 Amazon.com list of the Top 20 well-read cities in the US.

    Berkeley, Calif.
    Ann Arbor, Mich
    Boulder, Colo.
    Miami
    Arlington, Va.
    Gainesville, Fla.

Reports say that Alexandria residents mostly read romantic books. Cambridge readers preferred Business and Investment books. Book readers in Boulder, Colorado were the most health conscious as they look for materials that pertains to Health, Fitness and Diet. Berkeley residents mostly ordered books related to travel.
