Chinese Fishermen Catch 1,360-Pound Largest Kaluga Sturgeon


 
1,360 Pound Kaluga Sturgeon

A 1,360-pound Kaluga Sturgeon fish was reportedly caught by Chinese fishermen. The giant fish, considered as the largest Kaluga Sturgeon was pulled from the Heilongjiang River, at Tongjiang, a city that borders Russia in northeast China‘s Heilongjiang Province.


According to international reports, Chen Lin and 11 other fishermen joined hands in loading the giant Kaluga Sturgeon on to a stretcher and carry it ashore. It was later taken into a local breeding center. Reports say that the Kaluga Sturgeon is the largest ever caught in China‘s waters.



A study made by breeders revealed that the giant female Kaluga Sturgeon is carrying about 1.2 million eggs. Reports say that these egss will be collected and artificially inseminated. Kaluga
 Sturgeons, listed as critically endangered, are among the largest fresh water fish that has been around for over 130 million years.
