10 iconic beauty products of the decade

Some beauty products are so good they never go out of fashion. We all have our favourites - but what do the professionals swear by? Celebrity make-up artists and hair and beauty professionals reveal their favourite iconic products...

1. Flawless base: Jane Iredale Pure Pressed Mineral Base Powder

Mineral make-up has been one of the biggest beauty advances in recent years, able to deliver a sheer and flawless finish that conventional face powders can only dream of. Celebrity make-up artist Sarah Reygate says: "There have been many mineral products launched on the market in the last 10 years but Jane Iredale Pure Pressed Mineral Base Powder, is by far my favourite. It gives fantastic coverage and looks completely natural after just 10 minutes on the skin."

2. Long-lasting lip gloss: Lancôme Juicy Tubes

For luscious lips you need a gloss with staying power. Lancôme Juicy Tube lip gloss comes in a variety of super-hot colours and stays put without being sticky. "Before Juicy tubes, glosses were lucky to last 20 minutes," says professional make-up artist Amanda Bell. "Juicy tubes were really the first gloss to give that vinyl, long-lasting shine."

3. Vibrant hair colour: Nice 'n Easy Perfect 10

We all have our favourite hair colour but for richness and vibrancy, professional stylist and co-founder of Lockonego Jonathan Long swears by Nice 'n Easy Perfect 10. Years ago it was all about finding the perfect matte finish. Then along came the noughties, and everyone wanted a dewy, fresh-faced glow. To achieve the radiant look, award-winning make-up artist Lan Nguyen swears by Benefit High Beam. "Applied onto the face just above the cheekbones, it instantly reflects light onto the skin, making cheekbones seem higher and giving a lovely radiant glow," she says. And, for an all-year-tan, you can't beat Benefit's award-winning bronzer Hoola. Celebrating its 10th birthday this year, this award-winning bronzer blends in smoothly for a wonderful look.

If you're looking for an eyeliner that's easy to apply and stays put, look no further than Bobbi Brown Long-wear Gel Eyeliner. "This creamy gel glides on beautifully, is easy to apply and really stays in place," says Sarah. 6. Fluttery lashes: Shu Uemura eyelash curlers

If you want good looking lashes in minutes, it's worth investing in a decent eyelash curler. Japanese brand Shu Uemura produce one of the best. "Eyelash curlers should be sturdy, safe and really curl your lashes - otherwise what's the point?" asks Amanda. "These simply are the best, will last for years and will give you perfect fluttery lashes in seconds - job done."

7. Happy, healthy skin: Dermalogica

Flawless make-up starts with fantastic skin. "Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel is a fantastic product: soap-free, foaming, ph-balanced and washes off to maintain healthy skin," says Sarah.
